Default 2010 HoF Class

Here's as good a place as any to discuss it.

Thoughts guys?

Cris Carter got jobbed again.

A bit surprised to see John Randle jump Dent, though i always felt Randle was a HoF player, a genuine came-changer on a regular basis.

Floyd Little..?

I think it's one of those "make-up" years:

Too many WRs & TEs already ... bye bye Cris, Andre, Tim and Shannon particularly as Jerry was getting in.

No Hogs in the HOF? Have a seat Mr Grimm (are you telling me he's better than Bob Kuechenberg?)

Too many Bears? Too few Vikes? I prefer Randle over Dent anyway but I may be in the minority.

I think Rickey Jackson was certainly worth his place and as for Little I'm sure the arguments will rage for some time. I never saw him play (not even once) so I'll abstain.

MIN is my #2 team, and I am POed Carter got shafted again. The only consolation is that no other non-Rice WR got in (though, Reed made it farther, which is ridiculous - as I agree with write-ups that PFR has had questioning Reed's all-time eliteness).

PFR also had a nice write up regarding the main evidence that got Little in (based on a DEN writer saying he saw the majority of his carries), was that he got hit in the backfield 30% of the time (supposedly being good despite a bad OL), when infact ~30% of carries by modern backs result in no gain or loss, meaning that they are also hit in the backfield, making that tidbit about Little not very impressive.

Kind of sad that the voters are skewed so easily...not putting anything into context and such

That Little part is also a fairly sad indictment that a player's chances of getting into the Hall or not can rest simply in how vociferous their presenting journalist is.

There are a lot of guys in the pipeline for the coming years. Seems to be a recurring problem with the NFL Hall.

Carter should have been in on the first ballot. This year's class is not the problem for any of the players being mentioned. The voters for the hall of fame have been pushing their own agenda for years. Without an overhaul of the system, these things will continue. Steve Young is in the Hall of fame. Steve, whine till they get rid of the hall of fame quarterback in front of me, then choke in the big game, Young is in the hall of fame. Need I say more.

Gotta say, I don't share your hatred of Young, but his inclusion in the Hall is suspect to me. He's got a helluva QB rating, but that and one SB aren't enough in my book.

I don't hate Young. I don't hate anyone. I just don't see any way his inclusion in the HOF can be defended. The history of the NFL is lousy with better quarterbacks, not to mention other position players.
