After another week of AAF play, the top spot remains unchanged in our AAF Player of the Year rankings, but the gap is closing as we head down the home stretch of the season. This week, quarterback John Wolford of the Hotshots cracks the list after a strong performance, while receivers Charles Johnson and Rashad Ross make it on as well.
Here is the AAF Player of the Year rankings through Week 8.

Rashad Ross makes an appearance in the top ten after catching 4-of-7 targets for 78 yards and a touchdown in the win over the Commanders. Ross has gained an average of 2.26 yards per route run from the slot this season, ranking second out of 18 qualifying receivers. His five touchdowns from the slot are the most among all pass-catchers in the AAF.
Charles Johnson had a monster game in the win over the Express, as he caught 8-of-12 targets for 135 yards, one touchdown, and generated a passer rating of 132.3. Johnson has gained an average of 2.80 yards per route run this season, first out of 17 qualifying wide receivers.
Casey Sayles earned an overall grade of 65.6 in the win over the Legends, which is his second-lowest single-game grade of the season, however, he did manage to record three total pressures (two hurries, one hit) on 30 pass-rush snaps. Sayles is one of only two interior defenders who have a run-defense grade (81.3) above 80.0 and a pass-rush grade (76.7) above 75.0 this season.
