  • Saints running back Adrian Peterson reportedly thinks he can crack 500 receiving yards this season. Known more for his rushing ability, Peterson figures to share passing game looks with incumbent backs Mark Ingram and Travaris Cadet, along with rookie Alvin Kamara.
  • Early in his career, Peterson amassed a respectable yards per routes run in three of his first four seasons. In 2007, 2009, and 2010 Peterson earned marks of 1.89 YPRR, 1.52 YPRR, and 1.29 YPRR, all of which would have been ranked in the top 25 in 2016. However, since the 2010 season, AP has yet to surpass 1.00 YPRR while seeing his snaps in route drop in each of his three fully healthy seasons.
  • Last season Drew Brees targeted running backs 130 times, with two Saints running backs – Mark Ingram and Travaris Cadet – each seeing at least 50 targets. Meanwhile, the Vikings averaged just 95 targets to running backs over the past three seasons, with Peterson last seeing 50+ targets in 2012 when he had 51.
