  • In a sit down with CSN New England’s Mike Giardi, an anonymous AFC scout said he believes that the New England Patriots are serious about keeping quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo. According the scout, “Bill thinks he's got the next great one. I watched his snaps. I think he can be that.” Garoppolo’s contract expires at the end of the 2017 season, which means the Patriots would need to offer him a contract extension or use the franchise tag for the 2018 season.
  • In 2016, Garoppolo played 144 snaps as a starter in place of a suspended Tom Brady. Through two weeks, he earned a PFF overall grade of 81.7, ranking 13th of 34 qualifying quarterbacks.
  • During his two weeks as starter, Garoppolo posted an adjusted completion percentage of 80.4 percent, which ranked sixth of 30 quarterbacks with at least 50 dropbacks. While under pressure, he posted an adjusted completion percentage of 58.8 percent, which ranked third.
