  • Dan Pompei of Bleacher Report reports that Atlanta Falcons defensive end Takkarist McKinley will miss the early days of his rookie training camp. McKinley was selected with the 26th-overall pick of the 2017 NFL draft, and is recovering from a shoulder surgery that he had in March. The Falcons do not expect him to miss significant time.
  • McKinley notched 637 snaps for UCLA in the 2016 college season, and he earned a PFF overall grade of 89.1, which ranked eighth out of 343 qualifying edge defenders.
  • McKinley performed well both against the run and in rushing the passer. He achieved a pass-rush productivity (the PFF metric that measures pressure on a per-snap basis with weighting towards sacks) of 14.4, which ranked seventh out of 43 3-4 outside linebackers with at least 130 pass rushing snaps. His run stop percentage of 8.2 percent ranked third.
